Experience Oberwiesenthal and the Ore Mountains
Elldus Resort is set in the heart of the Ore Mountains, one of Europe’s most beautiful low mountain ranges on the border between Saxony and Bohemia. Unspoilt nature, fresh mountain air and a wide range of relaxing outdoor experiences make this region truly special. Its highest peaks are the Fichtelberg (1,215 m) in Germany and the Klínovec (1,244 m) in the Czech Republic.
Around the resort, families can look forward to 150 km of hiking trails, family-friendly routes such as the Christkindlweg, Germany’s oldest suspension cable car, the world’s longest Flyline, a nostalgic narrow-gauge railway, a summer toboggan run, an alpaca meadow, castles, palaces, wildlife parks, mines and so much more.
The region is also rich in tradition and local heritage: woodcarving, mining history, Christmas customs and traditional Ore Mountain folk art, including nutcrackers, miners, Schwibbogen candle arches and Christmas pyramids.
Since 2019, the Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří Mining Region has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

CABLE CAR
Since 1924, the Fichtelberg Cable Car has been a special landmark of the spa town of Oberwiesenthal. Germany’s first and oldest suspension cable car still takes you safely up to the Fichtelberg today – in just 3.54 minutes.

Step aboard the Fichtelberg Railway and enjoy a journey through history, nostalgia and engineering. For more than 100 years, the steam locomotive has been travelling along the narrow-gauge railway line between Cranzahl and the spa town of Oberwiesenthal.

THE WORLD’S LONGEST
FLYLINE
This mega attraction lets you feel like a bird for 9 minutes as you glide 1,550 metres from the Fichtelberg through the forest, close to the trees, around spectacular bends and over big and small jumps down into the valley. The Flyline is open from May to October. We recommend reserving your starting time online in advance.

From relaxed family bike rides to exciting mountain bike descents – cyclists will find plenty of options all around the resort. Highlights include the Klínovec and Plešivec Trail Parks.
Bikes can be safely stored with us or hired from our partner Sport Gahler in Oberwiesenthal. As an official accommodation partner of the Stoneman Miriquidi, Elldus Resort is also a great choice for ambitious cyclists.

Away from the slopes, families can enjoy the snow-covered scenery on winter walks, snowshoe tours and leisurely strolls. For even more fun, there are toboggan runs as well as the ice rink at the open-air stage – a highlight for children and adults alike.

Slopes, trails and tobogganing fun
Skiing & snow fun
Little winter sports fans can learn their first turns through play in our Bambini Ski School, while you discover the slopes of the Fichtelberg–Klínovec InterSki Region. From well-groomed pistes and cross-country ski trails to toboggan runs, everything is within easy reach.
Ski passes are available conveniently at the Elldus Resort reception. Horn sledges (also available with a baby seat) and plastic sledges can be hired for a fee.
